Terms & Conditions of Sale

These Terms & Conditions apply to all purchases made from Ancoats Guitars. By placing an order, you agree to the following:

1. Orders & Payment

  • All prices are listed in GBP (£) unless otherwise stated.

  • Full payment is required for in-stock guitars before dispatch.

  • Custom orders may be cancelled within 14 days of placing the order. In this case, 80% of the deposit will be refunded (20% is retained to cover admin and payment processing fees). After 14 days, deposits are non-refundable.

  • We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any order at our discretion.

2. Build Times (Custom Orders)

  • Current estimated build time for custom guitars is around 4 months. This may vary depending on complexity, parts availability, and workshop schedule.

  • Build times are estimates, not guarantees, but we’ll keep you updated throughout the process.

3. Shipping & Delivery

  • We ship within the UK and internationally using trusted couriers.

  • All guitars are packaged securely and shipped with tracking where available.

  • Risk of loss or damage passes to you once the guitar has been delivered.

  • Customers outside the UK are responsible for any import duties, taxes, or fees charged by their local customs authority.

4. U.S. Orders & Tariffs

  • Due to changes in U.S. trade policy, all guitars shipped to the USA are currently subject to an additional tariff of around 10% of the guitar’s value (including shipping).

  • This fee is not included in the checkout price.

  • An additional payment will be requested after purchase, either before the guitar leaves the UK or by the courier/U.S. Customs before delivery.

  • U.S. buyers are responsible for paying this fee.

5. Returns & Cancellations

  • In-stock guitars: You may return your guitar within 14 days of delivery for a full refund (excluding return shipping), provided it is in its original condition.

  • Custom builds: Custom orders are non-refundable as they are made to your specifications. However, we are committed to making sure every customer is happy and will work with you to resolve any issues fairly.

  • To arrange a return, you must contact us within 14 days of receiving your guitar. Customers are responsible for safe return shipping and insurance.

6. Warranty

  • All guitars are guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months from the date of delivery.

  • This does not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, or damage caused by improper storage, transport, or maintenance.

7. Handmade Disclaimer

  • Each Ancoats Guitar is handmade in a shipping container in Manchester using traditional methods.

  • As a result, no two instruments are exactly alike. Small variations, marks, or finish differences may occur and are considered part of the character of a handmade instrument.

  • These should not be viewed as faults or defects, but as evidence of individual craftsmanship.

8. Instrument Care & Responsibility

  • All Ancoats Guitars instruments are handmade from natural wood and are therefore subject to changes caused by temperature and humidity. These atmospheric changes can affect the guitar’s setup, including neck relief, action, and intonation. This is a normal characteristic of wooden instruments and not considered a fault.

  • Particularly during long deliveries or international shipping, movement may occur due to variations in heat and humidity. While every guitar is thoroughly checked and set up before leaving the workshop, we cannot guarantee that the instrument will arrive in exactly the same condition. Minor adjustments may be required by the customer after receipt (for example, truss rod or bridge adjustments).

  • Once the instrument has been delivered, the customer is responsible for its care and maintenance. If the instrument is tampered with, modified, or adjusted incorrectly (for example, truss rod or bridge adjustments carried out improperly), Ancoats Guitars cannot accept responsibility for any resulting damage. Such damage will not be covered under warranty. We recommend that any significant adjustments or repairs be carried out by a qualified guitar technician or returned to Ancoats Guitars where possible.

9. Finishes, Colours & Online Representation

  • Please note that colours, wood grains, and finishes shown on the Ancoats Guitars website, social media, or online guitar builder are intended as a guide only. Variations may occur due to natural differences in wood, lighting conditions, and digital display settings. The final instrument may differ slightly from images or online representations. These natural and technical variations are not considered faults.

10. Intellectual Property

  • All designs, images, and content on the Ancoats Guitars website remain our intellectual property and may not be reproduced without permission.

11. Governing Law

  • These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
