Where do you make your guitars?

I make them in a shipping container at Pollard Yard In Manchester.  Pollard yard is a community of small, creative bsuinesses taking advantage of the affordable workspaces that have been transformed from shipping containers.  One of the ways I keep my prices more competitive is to have lower overheads - I dont have a massive workshop using tons of electricty or any additional staff.  It's just me in a little shipping container.

How do I order?

If you already know what you're looking for and can see the options available on the product pages, the best way to proceed is to complete your order directly. Once I receive your order, I’ll get in touch to confirm all the details. If you have any additional custom requirements, please contact me directly HERE, and I’ll be happy to discuss them with you!

How do I pay?

I accept PayPal Pay in 3, online card payments, or you can contact me to arrange a 50% deposit scheme, where you pay half upfront and the remaining balance upon completion.

How long does it take?

I currently have a few slots per month for custom builds which gives me time to make some standard guitars for the webshop and also to experiment on what I like to call MoC's (my own creations). depending on how busy the order book is you could be waiting from 4 months up to a year - I don't take any work on that would take longer than a year though.  Get in touch to get the current wait times.

Do you have any demo guitars I could have a go of?

Yes! I will always have at least one demo guitar at my workshop.  You are more than welcome to visit any time.  Just get in touch to let me know when.

Customs & Import Information

At Ancoats Guitars, we ship worldwide, and we want to make sure you have all the information you need regarding potential customs and import duties when ordering from outside the UK.

Orders to the EU (Including Germany, France, etc.)

Since the UK is no longer part of the EU, customers in EU countries may be required to pay import VAT and, in some cases, customs duties when their order arrives. These charges are determined by your country's customs authority and are the buyer’s responsibility.

What to Expect:

  • Import VAT: Typically around 19-22% of the total order value, depending on your country. For example, Germany charges 19% VAT.

  • Customs Duties: In most cases, musical instruments such as guitars are duty-free under the correct tariff classification (HS Code 9207).

  • Customs Clearance: Your courier may contact you to arrange payment before delivery.

Orders to the US and Canada

For customers in the United States and Canada, the import process is generally straightforward, but some duties and taxes may apply depending on the total value of your order.

What to Expect:

  • United States: Most guitars can be imported duty-free under the correct tariff classification (HS Code 9207), but state sales tax or customs processing fees may apply.

  • Canada: Import duties are typically low for musical instruments, but you may be required to pay GST/HST (5-15%) based on your province, along with possible brokerage fees.

  • Customs Clearance: Your courier will guide you through the process and collect any applicable fees before delivery.

How We Help:

  • We provide all necessary paperwork, including a detailed invoice with the correct tariff code, to help smooth the customs process.

  • If you have any questions about customs fees in your country, feel free to contact us before placing your order.

Non-EU International Orders

For customers outside the UK, EU, US, and Canada, import duties and taxes may also apply based on local regulations. Please check with your country’s customs office for accurate information.

Important Notes:

  • Ancoats Guitars is not VAT registered in the UK, meaning UK VAT is not included in your purchase price.

  • If you refuse to pay customs charges and the guitar is returned to us, we will refund your order minus shipping costs.

We understand that customs fees can be an unexpected cost, and we’re here to help make the process as clear and straightforward as possible. If you have any questions, contact us and we'll be happy to assist.
