Preparing for the Birmingham Guitar Show: Behind the Scenes at Ancoats Guitars

As February approaches, the excitement and anticipation for the Birmingham Guitar Show are in full swing at Ancoats Guitars. This year is shaping up to be our most ambitious yet, and with so much to prepare, I wanted to share a behind-the-scenes look at how I’m gearing up for this incredible event.

Refreshing the Branding

The first big task on my list is overhauling all my promotional materials. My current flyers and branding have served me well, but after three years, they no longer reflect the guitars I’m making today. My designs and craftsmanship have evolved significantly, and it’s time for my marketing to catch up. The new flyers will showcase the guitars I’m most proud of, including newer models like The Granada. I’m working on creating a cohesive look that captures the essence of Ancoats Guitars: timeless style, Manchester roots, and uncompromising quality.

Building the Guitars

Of course, the heart of the show is the guitars themselves. I’ll be crafting at least six guitars throughout February to display and sell at the event. Each one will represent a different aspect of what Ancoats Guitars has to offer, from classic-inspired builds to more modern, innovative designs. It’s crucial to have a diverse range on display to show visitors the breadth of my work. Whether it’s a sleek, vintage-inspired model or a fully customised, one-of-a-kind piece, I want each guitar to tell a story.

A New Interactive Display: The Photo Book

This year, I’m adding something new to my booth: a photo book that recounts the past year’s projects. The idea is to create a tangible, interactive way for people to explore the guitars I’ve made and the stories behind them. From custom builds to unique finishes, the photo book will highlight the craftsmanship and passion that go into every Ancoats guitar. I’m hoping it will give visitors a deeper connection to my work and inspire them to imagine what I could create for them.

Spotlight on The Granada

I love bringing something new to the show each year, and for 2025, that something is The Granada. Inspired by the classic Fender Telecaster and infused with my own innovative design touches, The Granada represents the next step forward for Ancoats Guitars. While I’m keeping the full release under wraps until the Birmingham Guitar Show, I can promise it will be worth the wait. With custom pickups by Green Pickups of Manchester, refined body contours, and a starting price of £949, The Granada blends classic tones with modern playability.

Final Preparations

As the show draws closer, I’ll be fine-tuning every detail—from polishing each guitar to perfection to arranging the layout of my booth. The Birmingham Guitar Show is not just an opportunity to showcase my work; it’s a chance to connect with fellow guitar enthusiasts, potential customers, and other builders in the industry. It’s one of the highlights of the year, and I’m determined to make it my best showing yet.

If you’re attending the Birmingham Guitar Show this year, be sure to stop by the Ancoats Guitars booth. Whether you’re looking for your next dream guitar or just want to chat about all things guitar-making, I’d love to see you there. Here’s to an exciting February and an unforgettable weekend in Birmingham!
